1.4 Practice & Exam Tasks


The practice files for these tasks are located in the Objective 1-4 practice file folder. The folder also contains result files that you can use to check your work.


1. Open the Access_1-4 database from the practice file folder for exclusive use, and then do the following:

2. Log on by using any user name.

3. Create a password for the database. Use the password Access2016 .

  • Tip: do not worry about the message that will appear.

4. Compact and repair the database.

5. Create a backup of the database. Name the backup MOSBackup.

6. Manage objects as follows:

  • 6.1 Rename the Customer List form as Customer List_old.
  • 6.2 Restore the Customer List form from the MOSBackup database.
  • 6.3 Delete the Customer List_old form.

      • Tip: the Customer List_old form has not been deleted in the results database so that it can be used for comparison.

7. Split the Access_1-4 database to create a front-end database and a back-end database.

  • 7.1 Save the back-end database in the practice file folder using the default name Access_1-4_be.

  • Open the Access_1-4_Results database to check your work.

  • You can also open the Access_1-4_be.accdb database - notice it contains nothing but tables.


Exam Practice

  • Open the Access_1-4.accdb database, to perform the following tasks. There is no result file.
Acc16_ExT_1-4-1_Ex01 Configure the database so it automatically compacts itselft when closed. Do NOT close the database.
Acc16_ExT_1-4-2_Ex01 Back up the database to the Practice folder using the default file name. If multiple Practice folders are shown, any are acceptable.
