Illustrator

A way to organize objects and put some objects in front of, or behind, others. When objects are on separate layers, you can manipulate one item without affecting another, even if the two are in the same area of the image.

The amount of space between the baselines of two lines of text, like double-spaced text.

A way to legally use copyrighted material for a certain time and in a certain way, usually associated with paying a fee established by the copyright holder.

Special characters used to represent letter combinations, such as “fi.”

The perceived location of the lighting in relation to the form.

A color setting affecting tone, from darker to lighter.

A mark with a beginning and an end point.

Placing a bitmap image as a screen version of an image in an Illustrator document. A link is established between the placed image and the original source image. Image data is not stored in the document. See also embedding.

A feature that allows you to reshape any corner point on a path. When the path is selected with the Direct Selection tool, Live Corner widgets appear at each corner point. Drag the widget to reshape the corner point interactively.

A feature that lets you apply different colors to different parts of an object. After an object is converted to a Live Paint group, it is composed of faces and edges.
