The skills tested in this section of the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert exam for Microsoft Word 2016 relate to managing document options and settings.
In today’s work environment, you often collaborate with coworkers and colleagues to write, revise, and finalize documents. Sharing documents within a group of users often entails specific requirements and tasks. You might need to track changes that reviewers make to a document, for example, or you might need to merge copies of a document that reviewers revised independently. In some cases, documents require the protection that a password provides so that only people with the password can open and modify the file. In preparing a document to use in a collaborative process, you might need to restrict who can edit specific sections of the document. This chapter guides you in studying ways to manage documents, templates, and document changes, and ways to prepare documents for review.

1.1. Use the Combine command to merge the WordExpert_1-1a and WordExpert_1-1b documents, using the default settings.
2. Use the Organizer to copy the Practice tasks style from the WordExpert_1-1c template to the WordExpert_1-1d template.
3. Open the WordExpert_1-1c template (use the File menu > Open command), and then modify the template by changing the Practice tasks style so that its font style is bold italic.
4. Open the WordExpert_1-1a document, and then use commands in the Object dialog box to insert the text of the WordExpert_1-1e document after the first paragraph.
Exam Tasks
Copy the Normal style from Normal.dotm into WordExpert_1-1a.docx. Overwrite the existing Normal style.
Configure Word to save AutoRecovery information every 10 minutes.
On the last line of the document, insert the WordExpert_1-1e.docx file from the Practice files folder. Modifications to the WordExpert_1-1e.docx file should be automatically reflected in "WordExpert_1-1a.docx".
On the last line of the document, link the contents of the document WordExpert_1-1e.docx in the Documents folder to the document.
Enable only digitally-signed macros.
Set the application default font to 12 point Century Gothic for this document only.
1.2 Prepare documents for review

1. Open the WordExpert_1-2 document, and do the following:
1.1. Display the Restrict Editing pane.
1.2. Configure the editing restrictions to permit only comments and no other changes.
1.3. Set up an exception that allows users to edit the second section of the document.
1.4. Start enforcing protection, and assign the password WordExpert to enforce protection (and to turn off protection when necessary).
1.5. Encrypt the document content by assigning the password WordExpert to the document.
1.6. Mark the document as final.
Exam Tasks
Prevent users from applying formatting except through the application styles. Prevent users from changing the theme. Do not enforce protection.

1.3 Manage document changes

1. Open the WordExpert_1-3 document and do the following:
1.1. Turn on change tracking
1.2. At the end of the first paragraph, insert the text The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
1.3. Move the second paragraph so that it comes after the third paragraph.
1.4. In the fourth paragraph, delete the first sentence (“Themes and styles also help keep your document coordinated.”)
1.5. Select the option to format insertions with a double underline.
1.6. At the start of the third paragraph, insert the text Actions speak louder than words.
1.7. Select the option for balloons to show all revisions.
1.8. Insert a comment related to the document’s title. In the comment, enter the text Please verify.
1.9. Mark the comment already in the file as resolved.
1.10. Accept the revision you made to the first paragraph. Reject the deletion of the second sentence in the first paragraph.
Exam Tasks
Modify the document to ensure that changes made are tracked.
Accept all insertions and deletions. Do not accept format changes.
Under the heading "Section 1.3", add a comment to the second paragraph that reads "Different formatting necessary.".
Mark the comment on page 1 as done (resolved).
Reply to the comment with the text "Done!".
